Let’s Take A Glimpse At The World Of Basketball After The Finals

Published on July 2nd, 2012

Basketball season is over, with the Miami Heat winning the NBA Finals, but basketball isn’t over. With the draft  just passing and the Olympics coming up, basketball is far from over. I have some updates that you guys might find quite interesting.
The Dallas Mavericks has made quite a name for themselves during this draft. Bernard James, a 27 year old air force vet was the Mavericks 33rd pick in the draft. He was originally drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers but traded to Dallas. He s the oldest person to get drafted into the NBA in 20 years. Bernard once played for the Florida State Seminoles before going into the military and serving 6 years of active duty in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Qatar.
Bernard feels that his military experience has given him a more realistic view on life and basketball.
“I think there’s a huge difference between me and other players, right down to my mindset and how I approach things every day. A lot of these kids haven’t seen a whole lot in their lives. For many of them, all they know is basketball. They’ve been playing since they were about eight years old and they don’t realize what it’s like in the real world, having a real job and working for $30,000 or $40,000 a year. I’ve definitely learned not to let a single day go to waste.”
This story is proof that dreams do come true. You put in work and you will get the results you were looking for. God Bless America!
More about dreams coming true, Lamar Odom will be going back to Cali. Lamar will be going back to the team that originally drafted, the L.A Clippers. It isn’t the Lakers but at least he’s back in L.A, the place he whined so much about last season.

Back to the Mavericks, Delonte West, the Mavericks back up guard wants Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams to join the Mavericks as well. Even though Delonte is a free agent that’s not stopping him from campaigning for Deron to join the Mavs. Deron is from Dallas and like Delonte is a free agent as well. So he’s been thinking about staying in BK or coming home to Dallas.

The last of our sport’s updates is a sad one. Dwayne Wade will be missing the Olympics because he will have to have surgery on his left knee. Dwayne informed the chairman of USA Basketball, Jerry Colangelo and head coach Mike Krzyzewski that he won’t make the Olympic games. In the meantime Dwayne and his doctors are planning out his surgery plans.
This is more disturbing news for the USA team because Dwight Howard will be out as well for lower back surgery. At least Dwayne got a championship ring to ease the pain on not getting a gold medal because the USA is coming home with the gold.
Even though this isn’t a sport’s update but it is a sport’s update, the cover for the EA Sport’s 2K13 has been revealed. It will feature the Clippers’ Blake Griffin, the Thunders’ Kevin Durant and the Bulls’ Derrick Rose. All three players have won the Rookie of the Year award and Kevin and Derrick have enjoyed MVP status. The game will be able to be purchased in the U.S. October 2nd and internationally October 5th.
That’s quite a basketball glimpse. Many surprises and disappointments. The 2013 NBA season should be exciting. Hopefully Derrick, Dwight, and Dwayne will have recovered from their surgeries to contribute to an explosive season.
