Interview: Conley P Has Done It Again With F.A.L.L.

Published on July 31st, 2012

Just a short while ago I introduced you guys to Brooklyn rapper Conley P, well we have more on the ambitious rapper because he stays on his grind. The last we spoke of was his mixtape that was out at the moment “Downstairs”, he briefly touched on the upcoming mixtape “Forever And Long Live”, that is available now to download. I felt the need to follow up with him because his F.A.L.L. (Forever And Long Live) mixtape because it had sparked an interest with me. Artists are always putting out mixtapes but it was something about his anticipation for his OWN mixtape that interested me. He wouldn’t talk much about the F.A.L.L. mixtape, which heighten the anticipation for his fan base and new audience.
It has been two weeks since the drop of the mixtape and I was curious about a lot of things; how it was received, how did it do, and most importantly what is it about. Conley kept it such a mystery that once it dropped I wanted to do something like an unveiling for those that haven’t gotten a chance to listen to it. Ask questions that others may have been curious about as well. House of Aura gets all the exclusives on up and coming artist and Conley isn’t a new comer to us because he gave us his first exclusive as an artist, so it is only right that we get are able to get another exclusive from him.
If you haven’t heard Forever And Long Live, hopefully this interview will help accelerate your movements to your computer to download the mixtape. Just in case you’re wondering where you can go to download, I mean duh, right here at www.houseofaura.com. Let’s get this interview started!

1) You had a new mixtape, “Forever And Long Live” that dropped on the 17th, did you get the kind of response that you thought you would?

ConleyP: Honestly my ‘Forever and Long Live’ mixtape got a bigger response than I thought it would! I realized a lot of people hoped on board with my sound after I realized the two singles “Defrauss” and “Phantoms” from the mixtape, but the immediate downloads and instant feedback was unreal and a shock.

2) What inspired the title “Forever And Long Live?

ConleyP: The title for the mixtape is a lot deeper than you think, but it was mainly inspired by my outlook on life. I feel like not enough people have a good outlook on life. A lot of negativity happens to the point where expecting the worse makes you a “realist”. l never liked that, and I feel like this mixtape takes that negativity and shows you how to turn it into light. I want listeners to be happy everyday like I am, even with their problems. Once you feel like you’ll live forever and no problem is long enough, feel me?

3) Coincidentally the acronyms for your mixtape is F.A.L.L., was that done on purpose or just a coincidence?

ConleyP: FALL was definitely on purpose. It kind of turns the title into an oxymoron if you get what I’m saying. The message of “Forever and Long Live” is to stay positive, that you rule your world and a happy life is not temporary. On the other hand the title ends up spelling “FALL” which stands for the constant declines in life. I’m aware life is no fairy tale but there are sad parts to every story. Whenever you fall just remember you’ll live long forever. That’s the message in a nutshell.

4) For those that haven’t heard Forever And Long Live, what can they expect to be hearing?

ConleyP: Personally I feel this mixtape was a quick step in another direction for me. I’ve never really did a project with a core story in the songs, but I think people will hear my message clear when they play this tape. Every song is original in every aspect, with fresh, raw hip hop lyrics and experience. I think the ones that really listen to it as a hip-hop project and not a rap attempt will see themselves in this mixtape.

5) Does this mixtape show growth? If so, in what way.

ConleyP: This mixtape is all about growth. There’s the story of a King in this mixtape, and every track shows another chapter in his life, the good and bad of just growing up as a person with some many influences around you. Growth is the perfect word for ‘Forever and Long Live’.

6) What is the overal theme of F.A.L.L.?

ConleyP: For once the project truly has a theme. It’s the fall and rise of a King, or anyone for that matter, since everyone is their King. Some songs sound royal, and some some eerie, sound make you feel amazing.

7) Did you work with anyone different on this mixtape or did you stay with producers and egineers that you were familiar with?

ConleyP: Well I stuck with the engineer Justice-Stokley Hall who did my previous mixtape “Downstairs” but the tracklist has an entirely new line up of features. This is my first project under the KAMO rap group and you can catch the fellow emcee ‘Frank Ramz’ on the mixtape, along with my longtime friend “Qu’ality” which is my personal favorite. I’m all about making good shit.

8) If someone wanted to listen to one songoff of your mixtape to determine whether it gets a complete listen, what song would you recommend and why?

ConleyP: This is a tough question since there are so many different kinds of sounds under the one theme of this project. But If I had to choose I’d suggest they listen to ‘Phantoms’ which is the second single off FALL. I have my own favorites but that song really drew more supporters in at the last minute, track #13.

9) Whats your personal favorite song off of Forever And Long Live and why?

ConleyP: My personal favorite is called ‘Beast at Heart’. I’m probably addicted to 70% of the project but that song as a whole really touches my soul. I felt I spilled a lot of feelings all over that simple but amazing beat. Every time I hear it I get into a trance; hands down my favorite.

10) Where does this mixtape show where you are as an artist?

ConleyP: As an artist, FALL mirrors my grind and ambition perfectly. I’ve taken some crazy ideas and iffy instrumentals that personally spoke to me. Then, I turned it into something everyone can listen to. Almost every line in that mixtape explains me for who I am. Besides, if you listen to my 3 mixtapes in random order you’ll be able to.

Well there you have it, if you havent downloaded Conley’s “Forever And Long Live”, I suggest you do so now. This is a masterpiece that you do NOT want to sleep on. You’ve heard it from the horse’s mouth; hes given you tracks to preview before you dive all the way into his mixtape. Take the suggestion and take a bit and see if you like, but I have no doubt that you won’t. Like I mentioned earlier you can find and dowload his mixtape from our site but you also can find and download F.A.L.L. from http://www.bloodbrothersempire.com. This is something you want to get on your hard drive like ASAP!
