Nicki Minaj seems to be representing female emcees now and days. I mean Nicki doesn’t really have any competition. Well it looks like Nicki will have some competition from a vet, Eve. She will finally be releasing her delayed album “Lip Lock”.
Eve has delayed her album for about a year and a half due to the legal issues surrounding the project. Now those problems have been solved, Eve anticipates that her album will be released sometime in the fall. She didn’t give an exact date, just in case the album happen to get delayed again. In an interview with Time.com, Eve talked about her album and how she is staying true to herself but showing her growth as a lyricist.
“Not an exact date, but we’re wanting it to come out in the fall. I wanted to really take what people loved of me and fell in love with in the beginning, with the Ruff Ryders and all of them, and combine it with where I am now. As far as my ear with music now, because I traveled so much, I think musically my ear has grown. And then lyrically obviously I think I’ve grown. Hopefully people will feel that. Hopefully my core audience won’t feel like I’ve left them behind. That was a big deal for me, to make them feel like they’re involved in my growth.”
Eve is coming back with a vengeance, so Nicki will have another relevant female emcee to compete with. She might show her a thing or two about hip hop. Then again they aren’t in the same category, style wise but nothing is wrong with some friendly competition.
